Barrel Racing will feature as a stand alone event at Horse Australia 2008, with the Australian Barrel Horse Association Capricorn Coast Classic being held in the Schwarten Pavilion at the Rockhampton Showgrounds on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May 2008.
The Capricorn Coast Classic is an event for horses aged 6 years old and under and will be the feature Barrel Racing event on the Austrlian Barrel Horse Association program.
Barrel Racing is one of the horse-world’s most exciting and fastest growing events and the purpose of “age” events such as the Capricorn Coast Classic is to provide the opportunity for horses of a similar age to compete against each other in a showcased event.
Other events on the programme will include Youth Barrel Races, divided into three (3) age groups, and a 4D (division) Barrel Race. Divisional barrel racing is designed to foster the sport of barrel racing by rewarding horses and riders for their effort against competitors of similar levels. This type of event allows everyone to compete, but recognises the various levels of competition within the contest.
The comprehensive two day program is currently being approved and finalised with details available at the beginning of 2008 .
